Parent Connect gave Petra new direction

Petra joined Parent Connect after being signed off work due to illness, which had left her feeling anxious and down. Prior to her illness, she had a job but was unsure whether to return to her previous role or to explore new career options. She reached out to Aberdeen Foyer to find support in rebuilding her confidence and to explore her employment options.

Petra began attending one-on-one wellbeing sessions with a development coach, before progressing to group sessions. After her confidence started growing again, she began working with the Parent Connect team to receive employability support.

When Petra first came to the Foyer, she was very nervous and anxious. Despite this, she pushed herself to attend sessions and always felt better for having come in. While initially quiet, her confidence grew and she began engaging with others. In group sessions, she consistently engages everyone in conversation and is always willing to assist others during craft activities.

Petra has been very reliable, attending all group sessions and was gutted to miss out one time due to illness. Her confidence has grown significantly, and she now makes a conscious effort to go for walks between sessions to support her physical wellbeing.

It has been a joy to watch her progress, from a quiet and anxious individual to one of the most dependable clients, always showing up and interacting positively with others. She has a natural talent for art and craft activities and has produced some beautiful work in the group.

Initially uncertain about her career path, she has now secured new employment and exited our services, expressing deep gratitude for the support she received during her time at Aberdeen Foyer.
