Aberdeen Foyer strides to Kiltwalk finish line with over £1600 in donations

Aberdeen Foyer’s staff took part in Aberdeen Kiltwalk on Sunday 2 June. The team of 10 were keen to challenge themselves physically and also raise funds and provide visibility to the charity supporting young people and adults in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Aberdeen Foyer Futures Team Leader Ashley McCorquodale was happy to take part in the Kiltwalk and see her team come together for such an inspirational and important event:

“It was so great to see my team take on the challenge! Also, a great way to chat with your colleagues in a less formal setting, so great to see everyone back at work after this joint experience. We did not run out of things to talk about for the entire six hours we were walking and I’m sure the chatter will continue in the office!”

Sunday 2 June saw over 4000 people take on the 17.8 mile walking challenge, leaving from Duthie Park and finishing in Bellfield Park in Banchory, where another over 1000 people finished a 4-mile walk as well.

Aberdeen Foyer’s Communications manager Ester Laiho was happy to see her team in good spirits, even when the going did get tough towards the end:

“Such a lovely and sunny day for it! Kiltwalk is an amazing event and the Kiltwalk Kindness was felt! I know I’m not the only one who started feeling the strain of the walked miles in the end. The work Aberdeen Foyer does is so important, so we were happy to contribute to it in a different way, although my tired legs are grateful the Kiltwalk is only once per year!”

All smiles in Duthie Park before barking on the 17.8 mile journey!
