Nightstop approves first Hosts

This new initiative, Nightstop North-East Scotland aims to tackle short-term homelessness with community hosting. Running successfully throughout the UK, Nightstop is operated by Depaul. Aberdeen Foyer’s Nightstop service, which is jointly commissioned by Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Council. The Foyer is looking to join the long list of success stories.

Nightstop Co-Ordinator Megan Douglas is feeling positive about having the first Hosts join the service:

“I think it’s a big step. I hope this will show other potential Hosts that it can be done. The Hosts are the greatest asset to the programme, and we look forward to supporting them every step of the way.”

Becoming a Nightstop Host has been made as easy as possible. The Foyer will carry out a PVG check on your behalf and provide training. Hosts are able to determine their own availability for Hosting. Also the aim of the programme isn’t for the Host to put their life on hold – the contrary! Hosts are supported throughout the stay, with the aim of moving the young person on to a positive, longer term housing solution that is right for them.
